THE BAND

Andy Jacobs

Andy is a Bend native, born in 1980, whose first memory was listening to Rubber Soul on a cassette tape and learning that he had to flip the tape over to keep the music flowing.   As a child he was obsessed with music; his mom would even catch him lightly banging his head against the wall to the rhythm whatever was playing in the house!

Growing up in Central Oregon in the 80’s thru mid-90’s meant that there wasn’t even any cable access to MTV or music videos, but that didn’t stop his pursuit of wanting to learn music like many of the greats.  Although bands like Van Halen and Def Leppard actually turned him off to guitar early on due its seemingly unattainable virtuosity, he preferred bands like The Beatles, The Beach Boys, Simon and Garfunkel, and Buddy Holly, to the contemporary songs of the 80’s.

His first gig came at age 9, when he and his dad would lip sync very convincingly along with the Righteous Brother's hit 'You've Lost That Loving Feeling’.  He was then swept up in the crazes of the early nineties with the likes of MC Hammer, Vanilla Ice, Kriss Kross and Ace of Base.  In fact, Weird Al introduced Andy to 'Smells Like Nirvana' before he even heard Nirvana. Andy admits that as a pre-teen, he would routinely get in trouble for shoplifting cd's until he was finally busted by his mom.

His first spark for playing guitar happened when he snuck into his sister's room when she wasn't there to see if he could “suss out” the notes to 'Come As You Are' on her little flamenco guitar.  The notes came very easily and made him realize that he could play guitar.  He then bought his first electric guitar, quickly teaching himself songs by Nirvana, STP, and Smashing Pumpkins, all by ear.  In high school his music tastes would evolve with the eclectic mainstream of the times.  His favorites would jump from SoCal Punk Rock to Ska to NuMetal and beyond.

During his senior year at Bend High School, Andy co-founded the band Thought Police.  They were a high energy political old school punk band that loved to add theatrics wherever they could.   At the height of Thought Police's popularity, Andy temporarily left the band to pursue an Audio Production degree at the Art Institute of Seattle.  Jeremy Magee took his place as guitarist in the band.  Soon after, Andy rejoined the group and he and Jeremy have been best mates ever since.

In 2002, Thought Police broke up and went their separate ways.  In it's wake, Andy founded the band Goodbye Dyna as a vehicle for his own songs that he could have full control over.   Andy was the co-founder of many bands including Subliminal- A Sublime Tribute, Sons of Dirt (also with Jeremy), The Mowbray Collective, The Zanti Misfits, That 90’s Band and more.  He's been the drummer for The Color Study, the bassist for Third Fire, the guitarist for both Natty Red and Wild Bells.

Fun Fact: Not once, but twice… Andy has broken his leg onstage during performances with the Beatles tribute bands Magical Mystery Four and Juju Eyeball.

In 2015, Andy met now-bandmate Travis upon his move to Bend, and became the first guitar instructor contracted by his local music education program, Music Flow.  In 2022, Goodbye Dyna recorded an album at Abbey Road Studios in London with friends and family.  He was joined by Thought Police drummer Jarred Grant and Floater bassist Robert Wynia.  Andy now leads the Youth Rock Band program at Music Flow, along with performing with That 90’s Band and Goodbye Dyna frequently.   Andy’s teenage son Hendrix is now cultivating his own passion for guitar, and enjoys playing in a System of a Down tribute band with his dad.

Travis Palladino

Travis was immersed in music from a very young age, growing up in the Philadelphia PA area.  After a few years of childhood piano lessons, he found himself at a local record store in 1995 and obtained Bush’s groundbreaking “Sixteen Stone” album.  After being enamored with the album’s electrifying sound, Travis received an electric guitar for his 11th birthday and never turned back, forming a love for learning a variety of alternative rock music, and performing in local youth rock bands.

Much later down the road, after enjoying several years in an engineering career in Atlanta GA, Travis decided to re-focus his life around his passion for music.  So, after completing a year of study with a local music school program, he then packed up and moved to Bend OR to found Music Flow, a music education program providing private & group lessons for a variety of instruments, along with a student rock band program.

Travis currently enjoys growing his role in serving the local music community, while also passing along the joy of learning and appreciating music to his son Mateo.  He is grateful that he gets to share his love of 90’s music, that played such a huge role in his formative years, on stage with That 90’s Band.

Stephan Seguin

Stephan has played drums his whole life. His dad was a hand percussionist, and taught him rhythms before he could even walk.

Since he was young, he was exposed to a lot of style of music, but primarily what was on the local rock radio station (ie 90's rock, alternative and grunge), while on car rides with his mom.

He began drum set lessons at 9 years old, and from there started playing rock, punk, and metal, joining a pop punk band at 13, touring the west coast only a couple years later. From there, metal took over, and a lot of his next bands/touring opportunities came from that side of things. But he returned to rock later in life, and now flips between both from project to project.

Meanwhile, that love for 90's music never died, especially the heavier side, rock and grunge. Pearl jam, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Tool, Foo Fighters, all dear to his little black heart. And so, he brings that love of aggression to That 90's Band.
